Relationships

Get teens to cultivate healthy relationships while focusing on kindness. Bullying, harassment, sexual harassment and dating abuse are also covered.

Seeking follows, likes, emojis and views from unknown, faceless audiences is replacing the kindness, understanding, tolerance and acceptance needed to interact and relate with people around us who matter. Young relationships are difficult enough to understand and often require hard work to maintain. When you only communicate through devices instead of in-person (IRL) it opens a wider door to bullying, harassment and mental abuse in relationships. Learn how to avoid becoming a victim and get tips on cultivating long-lasting, meaningful relationships whether virtual or in-person.
Lesson Expectations:
Understand the power of peer influences and the desire to conform to social pressures. The lessons will provide context to bullying, cyber bullying, harassment, sexual harassment and dating abuse and how to handle one’s self whether around it or directly involved in it. Kids will understand how to be more accepting, resilient, tolerant, and kind towards others while appreciating the value in themselves. They will learn concepts to seek consent & maintain emotional well-being to strive for healthy relationships. From a safety perspective, you will be able to recognize emotional grooming tactics typically used by predators online to identify and prevent the steps that can lead to human trafficking.
Goals
Gain an understanding of other people’s perspectives and perceptions while listening with the intent to communicate more effectively throughout our relationships. Recognize grooming tactics as we establish emotional and physical boundaries to avoid abusive relationships. Conduct practical exercises to prepare teens for relationship success.
